L-TWOO RX 12 Disc 2x12s Carbon Road Hydraulic Disc Brake Groupset

$369.00

The RX series is the flagship road bike derailleur system from L-Twoo. With powerful hydraulic brakes and snappy mechanical shifting, this is the perfect groupset for someone looking to build a performance disc brake road bike on a budget.

Kit contains:

  • Two brifters (brake levers with integrated shift levers)
  • Rear Derailleur
  • Front Derailleur
  • Front and Rear brake calipers

The RX version features carbon fiber brake levers and a carbon fiber pulley cage on the rear derailleur.

NOTE: Since international logistics doesn’t allow the shipping of large amounts of liquid brake fluid, we are unable to supply brake fluid with any of our hydraulic brake kits. The lines are full of liquid, but you will need to source your own hydraulic brake fluid for bleeding the brakes. You can use any high-end mineral oil brake fluid from Shim***o, etc.

1 review for L-TWOO RX 12 Disc 2x12s Carbon Road Hydraulic Disc Brake Groupset

  1. 4 out of 5

    Joe Whittingham

The RX groupset is the first hydraulic disc brake groupset out of China. It came with big expectations and after a few speedbumps it has delivered on those expectations.

Early versions of the groupset had two main problems. Excessive lever travel and a tendency for the shift levers to snap. Both of these issues have since been resolved by redesigning and changing suppliers for certain components.

I have over 2,000km on the groupset now. The shifting is great. Chinese groupsets have mastered shifting for a while now and the L-TWOO is no exception. Rear shifts are crisp and snappy, and front shifts can be performed with no conscious effort. However; the most surprising thing about this groupset is the braking performance. I have just 140mm rotors front and rear on my bike, yet the L-TWOO is able to shred speed like it’s going out of fashion. Descending gnarly switchbacks with single-finger braking is a breeze. If you really want to throw down the anchors, grab a fist full of brake lever and lean right back and feel your internal organs press against the front of your rib cage.

The ergonomics work well for me. The hood of the shift lever isn’t too high and the general hood shape is comfortable.

One small issue; occasionally the larger shift levers won’t return to their resting place, meaning the thumb shifters cannot be used. It doesn’t happen all the time, and it’s a simple fix… but its small issues like this that leave me giving this groupset 4 out of 5 stars.

Trace Velo’s Review:
Trace was impressed with the overall build quality and performance of the groupset. He did have a lever snap when he crashed his bike though. Trace’s unit was one of the early batches. L-TWOO have since switched suppliers for their carbon levers so snapping levers should be a thing of the past.

China Cycling’s first look video. A good in-depth look at the groupset.

Francis Cade’s first ride on the groupset. Straight away a snapped shift lever. (Again, this was from the earlier batches of groupsets, the issue should now be resolved.) but aside from that *minor* problem (ahem) the right hand shifting and braking seem to be working great.
